HH52

52 feet of evolution

The all-new HH52 is a further developed version of our award-winning HH50, designed specifically with electric propulsion in mind. With a completely new saloon roof with over 4,600 watts of custom-built solar panels, an updated deck plan, revised interior layout and larger sail area, this yacht offers the latest design insights and enhanced performance for mid-size luxury cruising catamarans.

Designed to handle the high demands of ocean sailing, the HH52 meets and exceeds ISO CE Class A requirements. The HH52-OC is approximately 50% E-glass and 50% carbon fibre with epoxy foam core sandwich laminate throughout. The SC model consists entirely of carbon sandwich (even the furniture). No matter which model you choose, the HH52 is a rigid, robust and lightweight platform ready to tackle the race track or take you around the world in style and with speed, comfort and safety.

Theyard with HH44 and 52 being built

The second HH yard was recently openend. This is where the first HH52’s will be launched in 2024. At the moment, you will only see so-called renderings on this website, but they will be replaced with the real picures as soon as the first 52’s are splashed! Drop me an email and I will send them to you directly.

HH52 design brief

Superior Carbon Epoxy Construction:

The primary goal in designing the HH52 was to create a vessel that is both safe and comfortable. However, achieving high speed was also a crucial objective, as speed enhances both safety and the enjoyment of sailing. The HH52 offers two configurations to suit different sailing preferences.

First, there is the option of fixed keels, which provides a reliable and straightforward setup. Alternatively, for those seeking maximum performance, the HH52 SC variant features daggerboards and is constructed entirely from carbon fiber. This 100% carbon build significantly reduces weight and increases stiffness, greatly enhancing performance.

Even in the HH52 OC model with fixed keels, carbon fiber is extensively used in critical areas such as frames, stringers, and bulkheads to ensure strength and durability. As a testament to HH’s expertise in carbon construction, the interior furniture of the 52 SC is also crafted from carbon fiber. Although these advanced materials are not visible from the exterior, they contribute significantly to the vessel’s weight efficiency and structural rigidity, resulting in a superior sailing experience.

Classic aft steering HH52 OC or SC

With helm stations located aft, all sailing and steering operations benefit from clear visibility of the sails. Additionally, the helm can be swung inboard for protection from the elements. This aft helm version also features a larger interior salon, offering an unparalleled level of comfort and refinement not found in any other performance cruising catamaran of this size.

Forward steering HH52 SCF or OCF

The forward helm station and pit provide a central, protected location for operating all sail controls, making it ideal for easy, single-handed sailing. Optional aft tiller chairs with push-button sail controls add the thrill of sailing usually reserved for performance mono-hulls.

Forward steering pro's and cons

Aft steering position on HH52

Despite the many advantages of the forward cockpit, the main disadvantages are the space it takes from the salon, and the lack of steering aft. That last one has been turned into an advantage: with tillers aft, the boat can be controlled from the coolest position on the boat.

For those looking for more conventional setup, the HH52 can also be fitted out with classical helms aft. They swing in and out, to protect you from weather and UV light.

Building better

by experience

The majority of sailing yachts are built in polyester, which is applied by hand. Due to the human factor, the quality is therefore inconsistent. Moreover, the fibres are over-soaked with polyester, making it heavier – not stronger. HH has decades of experience in injecting fibers not with polyester, but with epoxy (so-called vacuum injection). This guarantees a consistent laminate and perfect weight control. An example is the crossbeam with striker and longeron, which HH builds in one piece. Our cats are stiff and light, and therefore fast. And speed is -next to fun- an important aspect of safety.

And those who build light have more margin for comfort. The quality of equipment and finishing is identical to that of our flagship, the HH66. Special attention to detail makes this cat safe and fast, without frills. The air conditioning can simply run on the batteries at night. Indeed, the battery bank could run the A/C in the master cabin for three days without recharging. But as soon as daylight returns, the solar panels -4600 watts- start refilling the battery bank of more than 43 Kwh.

Indrukwekkende zeilprestaties

Dankzij unieke zwaardconstructie

C-vormige zwaarden zorgen voor verticale lift en indrukwekkende zeilprestaties aan de wind en bij licht weer, waardoor de HH44 naast comfortabel en veilig zeilen ook records verbreekt in wedstrijdzeilen.

Eco Drive hybrid propulsion

The HH52 has been designed to work with our optional parallel diesel/electric hybrid, a large solar array on the cabin top and hydro-regeneration while sailing.

Our EcoDrive provides all the benefits of an electric boat: silent fume free motoring, instant torque for maneuvering, and hydro-regeneration while sailing; while also providing the reliability of trusty diesel engines as a back up.

For the technology shy, traditional standalone diesel engines with shaft drives are also offered.
